Enrolments

Our school has an enrolment restriction under section 2.2.16 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic).


Approved entry criteria for our school are:

  • students who live within the school zone
  • students with a sibling attending the school at the same time
  • students seeking enrolment on compassionate grounds, in exceptional circumstances.

All students seeking enrolment at our school must meet one of the above criteria to be eligible for enrolment.

The department will review this enrolment restriction yearly and provide updated advice as necessary.

Grade 6 to Year 7 Transition

During Term 2 the Transition Information Pack for Parents/Guardians is provided to all families of current Grade 6 students by the Primary School. This pack includes an application form whereby you’re nominating your preferred Secondary School for your child. Completed application forms are then sent back to your child’s Primary School. The Primary School will inform families of confirmed Secondary School placements in August.

The timeline includes activity descriptions and an overview of responsibilities to assist school staff with key dates:

  • From the start of Term 2, 2026: Parents and carers can submit their Year 7 placement applications. This follows the release of the 2027 school zones on the department’s Find my School website and the publication of the Year 6 to 7 placement information packs.
  • 8 May 2026: Year 7 placement applications from parents and carers are due.
  • 15 June 2026: Secondary schools notify primary schools of all students accepted into Year 7 (first, second and third preference rounds) for 2027.
  • 24 June 2026: Primary schools notify parents and carers of Year 7 placement outcomes.
  • 11 August 2026: Parents and carers confirm acceptance of offer with their primary school.


Once confirmed to attend Birranga College, we will be in contact with you to provide confirmation of enrolment documents and provide you important information about the new school year for your child.
