The Year 7 team have worked very hard over the last few months to ensure your transition will be rewarding for you. The transition program has been set up to make sure you have everything you need for a successful start to your secondary school journey.
We are very excited to work with you over the next six years of your learning journey as we enable you to Belong, Believe and become and to discover the ‘pearl within you’ and therefore achieve your personal best. You may well be feeling very nervous, or very sad about leaving your Primary School. You may be feeling excited and desperate to get started, or a mixture of these emotions. Starting out at a new school is a big step and everyone feels different.
You are now part of our team. We will look after you, you will play your part in the team, and you will be successful. Remember that you have something of real value to offer the college.
Currently, the school does not have a canteen. As a result, we have a partnership with ‘Tasty’, a local organisation that produce a range of fresh and hot foods that provide a food truck. Each day the ‘Tasty’ food truck will arrive at the school at about 1.30pm. They will park in the car park. Students will line up at the gate and a supervising teacher will ensure students are able to purchase food. Only cash or credit cards will be accepted. Students will not be able to pay using their phone due to the state-wide policy mobile forbidding phones to be used in schools.
All students at Birranga College will be allocated an internal locker to securely store their belongings during the school day. Each student will be issued with a combination lock and shown how to use it confidently and safely. If a lock is lost or damaged, families will be required to purchase a replacement from the General office.
